Moving Cards for Announcing Your Move
Cindy and her virtual assistant happen to be cooperating for pretty much 5 years. Cindy had her assistant do a variety of task such as article marketing, scheduling blogs, following up by email with contacts, delivering newsletters. Originally the va charged per hour rate that included each one of these tasks. The assistant needed to track her time, down to the minute, and submit a monthly accounting showing how she used time. She'd then bill Cindy for another 10 hours.
Following a year or so the virtual assistant realized she might get more done if she didn't have to track every minute of her time. She'd come realize the time it took to get all these tasks done and that she might get them done more proficiently if she charged by project instead of the hour.
So she proposed a big change to Cindy in how she'd bill for services. Instead of hourly she'd now charge a flat rate for each article submitted, another predetermined fee for scheduling blog posts, another project fee for delivering the bi-monthly newsletter.
This could free up the virtual assistant's time since she no longer had to track her hours. Cindy knows what it really would cost her each month to get these tasks done and she'd know precisely what she was getting in return. It allowed Cindy to create a budget and never wonder if her assistant was running out of hours.
This proved helpful for Cindy and her virtual assistant. In regards to a year later the virtual assistant proposed an interest rate increase for scheduling blogs. She gave Cindy 60-days notice so there have been no surprises. Cindy wasn't sure she'd have the ability to handle that rate increase at that time. She worked along with her va and they found an agreement to test it for Two months. If it then still failed, they'd revisit the problem and negotiate a rate that worked for of these.
